Weinergate: The Line For Apologies To Andrew Breitbart Forms On The Left

Now that more photos and information are coming out from multiple sources about Anthony Weiner's online exchange of photos and salacious talk, it is worth revisiting how the left blogosphere relentlessly pushed the meme that this was an Andrew Breitbart hoax:

Charles Johnson:

Eric Boehlert, who took time out from proofreading:

The hoax theory also made its way into the mainstream media via Jeffrey Toobin on CNN:

While this drama still is unfolding, it is not too early for all these people who maliciously attacked Breitbart to line up for apologies.

The line forms on the left.

  1. Between the rush to castigate Sarah Palin for her accurate Paul Revere statements and the joyful idiocy of blaming Andrew Breitbart for Anthony Weiner's crass behavior, there should be a lot of apologies forthcoming. There won't be, but there should be. Apparently, being on the left means never having to say you're sorry.

  2. I love the smell of pompous lefties eating grilled crow in the morning ... it smells ... it smells like victory!

LukeHandCool (who wonders where Eric Boehlert finds the time to be so wrong when he has so much work to do checking Professor Jacobson's posts for spelling errors ... hoping, with each typo, "Willy-gate" will one day rival Weiner-gate).

  3. Twitter from Jake Tapper, Weiner to hold presser:

Read between the lines -- Weiner is going to apologize to Andrew Breitbart or something.

  4. Cannon's latest argument is this wonderful conspiracy theory:

Breitbart et al had all these pics to begin with, and hacked into the twitter account to make the story more sensational, then sat through a week of everybody claiming they faked the photo and hacked the account before releasing the rest of the data that they already had.

Occam's Razor... use it. Simplest explanation: Weiner lied. I hope Weiner comes clean after this release and puts them all to shame.

  5. Oh and it looks like Cannon is the only one dumb enough to jump to Weiner's defense before he comments on the latest release.

  6. Oh my G-d, did I see "Ministry Of Truth" on the DailyKos masthead? They advertise themselves as a propaganda machine?

I knew those people had a few screws loose, but only a real nut would go there to read anything.

  7. Dear Mr. Boehlert,

Yes, I do in fact have incriminating evidence. It's a screenshot I saved. It's of a Legal Insurrection post. It is graphic. It shows Professor Jacobson's dangling modifier.

    Yours for the right price.

    Best regards, LukeHandCool

  8. Well, after 101 comments from this morning and all prior to 4:00, Charles Johnson has archived and closed the comments section for the LGF post listed above.

The good news is that the ignorance and hatred of 101 people are forever etched into the memory of the internet.

And when the truth is too hard to handle, just close the door and shut off the light.

  9. Charles "Pravda" Johnson will never apologize.

    Here's his latest BS:

"Not a freaking chance. If Weiner admits to sending the pictures in question, I’ll be surprised and disappointed, but I’m never going to apologize for calling it as I see it.

And I’m certainly never going to apologize for pointing out that Andrew Breitbart is a sleazy fraudster, with a well-documented and very tawdry history of deception.

So to those demanding that I apologize: try holding your breath until you turn blue. Maybe that will do it."

  10. Holding breath for apologies ...

    Nah, never mind.

  11. Liberal political commentators and "journalists" NEVER apologize for smearing people who bring to light the faults and foibles of their Liberal 'heroes' of the downtrodden.

You would think that those who (falsely) claim to speak 'truth to power' would not turn away when the TRUTH hurts their political agenda. The fact that they do (and subsequently attempt to change the subject by saying "well, THIS time he was right, but ... [insert lame excuse here] so we're not going to apologize) is the greatest evidence that Liberalism is about getting RESULTS desired by Liberals, and NOT truth.

  12. Professor Jacobson, I'd love for this site to get more exposure, and most of the commenters here would agree. Make THIS site THE GO-TO site of the list of lefty media types that f'd this up. GROW THAT LIST! Salon.com? Behar? Bawbwa Waltaws? Surely there's more ...

  13. Joseph Cannon, still doesn't believe that Weiner sent the pic....

    Unbelievable!
